How do you use mesh size

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-09-28] [Hit: ]
If, in a given distance, there are lots of holes, they must be small holes, so what drops through is finer. The 350 mesh sugar is finer than the 40 mesh.......
Wikipedia is way too complicated for me. So my question is, would something be more fine if its mesh size is high, or would it be more fine if its mesh size is low?

Ex:
One bag of sugar is 40 mesh
One bag of sugar is 350 mesh

Which bag of sugar is more fine?

Think of it as a mesh count rather than size. If, in a given distance, there are lots of holes, they must be small holes, so what drops through is finer. The 350 mesh sugar is finer than the 40 mesh.
