2) Strip away that -5 from x by dividing both sides by -5.3) Strip away that 10 by subtracting 10 from both sides. Then strip away the negative sign in front of x, which is really the same as -1 * x, by dividing both sides by -1. (Or multiplying both sides by -1.......
1) x+10=12

2) -5x=60

3) 10-x=13

-
1) x+10=12 (start)
-10 -10 (subtract 10 from each side)
x+0 = 2
x=2 (result)

2) -5x=60 (start)
(-5x)/(-5) = 60/(-5) [divide each side by -5]
x = -12 [result]

3. 10-x=13 [start]
+x +x [add x to each side]
10=13+x
-13 -13 [subtract 13 from each side]
-3=x
x = -3 [answer]

These are easy to do once you understand HOW to proceed. You are trying to get the unknown "x" all alone on one side of the equation. Just bear that in mind, and strip away all the extra stuff around x until you get x all by itself. Then you will know what x is equal to.

1) Strip away that 10 by subtracting 10 from both sides of the equation. Everything you do to one side must be done to the other side as well, or else they will not stay equal.

2) Strip away that "-5" from x by dividing both sides by -5.

3) Strip away that 10 by subtracting 10 from both sides. Then strip away the negative sign in front of x, which is really the same as -1 * x, by dividing both sides by -1. (Or multiplying both sides by -1. It's the same thing as dividing by -1.)

Are these really so difficult that you can't do them yourself?

1. If x +10 = 12, then if you subtract 10 from each side, you get x = 2. Obvious!

2. -5x =60. Divide each side by 5 and you're left with -x = 12. Therefore x = -12

3. 10-x = 13. Subtract 10 from each side and you're left with -x = 3. Therefore x = -3. (10 - -3 is the
same as 10+3)

-
1. x=10. you subtract 10 from each side, so 10-10 =0, and 12-10= 2. you get x=2.
2. x = -12 divide -5 by each side of the equals sign to get x alone. so -5/-5=x and 60/-5 = -12
3. subtract 10 from each side to get x alone. so 10-13 = -3. then you get -x on one side of the equals sign, and -3 on the other. you cant have a negative x. divided -x by -1 and then divide -3 b -1 so x=3. hope it helps!

1)
x + 10 = 12
Subtract 10 from both sides:
x + 10 - 10 = 12 - 10
x = 2

2)
-5x = 60
Divide both sides by -5:
(-5x)/(-5) = 60/(-5)
x = -12

3)
10 - x = 13
Add x to both sides:
10 - x + x = 13 + x
10 = 13 + x
Subtract 13 from both both sides:
10 - 13 = 13 + x - 13
-3 = x

-
1) subtract 10 from both sides you get x=2
2)divide both sides by -5 you get x=60/-5=-12
3) transfer -x to wright side(to become +uve) and 13 to left you get 10 -13 =x
-3=x

-
x+10=12
x=12-10
x=2 ans

-5x+60
x=60/-5
x=-12 ans

10-X=13
10-13=x
-3=x
