Math problem?!? 5 stars to best answer

05 - .05 = 1.00 and 1.05 + 0.05 = 1.47 days (the 48th day is all the pond; one day less is half the pond)-1) Let the cost of the ball = x.......
Ok, i had a study guide for a math test, but for some reason I got 2 questions wrong.
Can you help me by telling me the answers please?

1. Jake went to a store and bought a baseball bat and a ball. The total price was $1.10. If the bat was $1.00 more than the ball, then how much did the ball cost?

2. If a lake has a group of lily pads that double in size each day, how many days would it take for the lake to be half covered? It takes 48 days for the lake to be completely covered with the lily pads

-
5 cents (1.05 - .05 = 1.00 and 1.05 + 0.05 = 1.10)
47 days (the 48th day is all the pond; one day less is half the pond)

-
1) Let the cost of the ball = x.
The bat costs 1.00 more than the ball, so the bat cost x + 1.00
The total cost is 1.10, so 1.10 = (x + 1.00) + x
Then 1.10 = 2x + 1.00, subtract 1.00 from both sides giving,
.10 = 2x, divide both sides by 2 and get x = .05
So the bat costs 1.00 + .05 = 1.05 and the ball costs .05

2) If the lily pads double in size each day, it would one take one day from half the lake being covered to the whole lake being covered. So if on day 48 the whole lake is covered, the lake is half covered on day 47.

1. $1.10-$1.00= $0.10
2.48 / 2=24

-
1) The ball was 10¢
2) It would take 24 days.

-
The balls ten cents obviously, and 47 days cuz if it doubles from half its full
