My fingers turned blue and I felt nauseous. Is this a normal reaction or was I allergic ?I have already seen the doctor and its getting better now, Im just curious if I was allergic-This depends on how bad your swelling was and oddly enough what your description of a hornet is, there are several variations on the them of Hornets,.......
Is this a normal reaction to a hornet sting ?
I was stung by a hornet twice today, once on the ankle and another in between the middle and ring finger. THE PAIN WAS EXCRUCIATING . I've been burnt by an iron and bitten on the face by a dog but this was by far the worst. My fingers turned blue and I felt nauseous. Is this a normal reaction or was I allergic ?

This depends on how bad your swelling was and oddly enough what your description of a hornet is, there are several variations on the them of Hornets,....some nest in the ground, some make papaer nests,.."wasps" for example are called hornets by some people and are black and yellow, some hornets are called "red wasps".....then there are the cicada killer hornets that dig actual holes in the ground and only come out during cicada baring seasons....then there are honey bees that are africanized and are supremely aggressive.....Red wasps are warriors on their own and they'll attcak on their own....so I'm gonna rule this guy out,....I think you got stung by a nest of ground dwelling small wasps known as yellow jacket hornets which are far more potent that paper nest yellow jacket wasps......since you got bit on the ankle?...it just makes sense, and the pain and the finger thing?....that'll last for about 3 days but you'll remember it farrrrrrrrr longer.....those little boogers can do real damage to your nerves. I've been attacked by those same wasps or "hornets"....but generally speaking,..."hornets have larger bodies than wasps do, sometimes if a paper wasp nest grows to enormous size?....those wasps will also increase in size and be called "hornets"...but cicada killer wasps can attack humans as well and thier stings can be really bad..,.....Now, as far as your reaction goes, if you were really allergic, you would have become really swollen at the point of the sting and the swelling would have continued up your hand to your elbow and upper arms and it would have become hard for you to breathe.....you might have gone into shock,...so it doesn't sound like you are too allergic to me....but it sounds like you got stung pretty badly and it'll continue to hurt for a couple of more days,...if it doesn't hurt?....then you'll still feel some ill effects from it at the site where you got stung.....if you do have anymore swelling?.....take some benedryl ( 25 to 50 Mg ) (dyphenhydramine Hcl) and slp some ice on it and above it...if it keeps getting worse......go to your local ER............hope this helps,...sorry you got stung.
