Water and heat - How it absorb heat

It is water’s exceptional capacity to absorb great amounts of heat before heating up itself that moderates seasonal surface temperatures and prevents the planet from becoming a perennially steamy hothouse like Venus or a frigid desert like Mars.


but how can it do that ?

it has a high specific heat, which is 4.1joule/gram. That means it takes longer for the atoms to get excited than other objects.

In part, yes...

But there are many other factors...

Varied things like the Earth's magnetic core that deflects much of the solar wind...

And there is both the rotation and tilt of the Earth...

And there is the amount of cloud cover...

And there is the atmospheric mix of gasses - many biologically produced...
