the more heat that is being transferred. It takes a certain amount of energy to raise the temperature of things, and transferring that energy takes time.-thats how slow your sensors are.........
This is sortof hard to explain. Just then I picked up my mug of hot water by the cup and not by the handle. At first I could hold it, but it felt like it was getting hotter and hotter until I had to let go. Why does it seem to get worse, when the temperature is staying the same, surely we should just feel how hot it is straight away and then know not to pick it up?

Your skin and the tissue under it don't immediately adopt the temperature of the thing you're touching. The more time you're in contact with it, the more heat that is being transferred. It takes a certain amount of energy to raise the temperature of things, and transferring that energy takes time.
