Spinning is the earth spinning as it travels around the sun. This is what mostly contributes to the change of day and night. Rotation is the earth revolving around the sun. As the earth changes location relative to the sun, the season changes. Rotation does also contribute very slightly to the change of day/night, however, which is why days get longer in the summer and shorter during winter.

Actually spinning and rotation are the same. the other motion is revolution,as motion of moving in a circle. the earth revovles and spins at the same time. the changing of seasons are the result of the yearly revolution of the earth around the sun whilst rotating,which is also why certain areas only experience season change. as for the changing of day and night, rotation of the earth causes the aforementioned phenomenon.
