but I just wanted confirmation.-The wide U shape you describe immediately says tick to me. My dog gets the occasional tick, that is exactly how they look at the rear. They are disease vectors (carry disease causing organisms and pass them on through infected bites).This pic shows how they look before and after feeding (look how much they balloon !......
Ever since Sunday a cat has been hanging around my house. About 20 minutes ago I picked it up (I haven't brought it into my house, by the way) and I looked at it's stomach. There was a small insect (a tad bigger than a flea) and it was brown with a white/ clear thing around it's butt. Somewhat it the shape of a wide U.
Please, tell me what this is. I have an inside dog and I don't want it to contract anything as we have just gotten rid of it's fleas. My sister said that the insect sounded like a tick, but I just wanted confirmation.

If it has eight legs and isn't a spider, and it looks like a bug, it's a tick.
