What does people think about Planet X

Do you think it's going to be like Armageddon?

I think about Planet X in much the same way that I think about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and reduced government spending. Except without quite as much likelihood of being real - or of having any effect upon me whatsoever (at least the fantasy of Santa Claus does seem to keep getting toys put under my X-mas tree....)

I think that Planet X was a term used for a hypothetical planet beyond Neptune. See, back in the early 20th Century, astronomers figured there was some anomaly to Neptune's orbit, and the possibility of a planet further out was one possible explanation for it. Searching for this hypothetical planet led to the discovery of Pluto... which was ultimately notably too small to account for the perceived anomaly. Better measurements, made possible in part by NASA's Voyager probes, ultimately showed that the anomaly didn't really exist.

The term was also used early on (moreso by media than scientists) with regards to a search for possible planet-like objects beyond Pluto, which would ultimately turn up in the form of Eris, Makemake, Haumea, Sedna, etc.

Planet X only became associated with doomsday BS because of a lady by the name of Nancy Lieder. She liked to claim that Grey aliens from Zeta Reticuli were communicating with her telepathically. Ultimately, she claimed that they were telling her that this "Planet X" was on its way to destroy Earth, and she ascribed a bunch of very imaginative properties to it, including an impossible to maintain orbit. Suffice to say, if she was being honest, these Zetas of hers were piss poor astronomers in the extreme. Her prediction, by the way, was for the end of the world in May of 2003. But, the general public has short memories about such things, thus there's plenty of opportunity to recycle hoaxes.

No.

The recent volcanoes, megalightning and solar storms caused Planet X to disappear out of the galaxy. You can now safely forget about it.

Cheers!

Planet X is fictional. It is not real. Whether "people" understand that or not, astronomers do.

-
Nope.... at least, not in my lifetime.
