There are thousands of astronomical observations that confirm in detail that we are in a Lambda Cold Dark Matter version of an expanding Friedmann solution to the Einstein Field Equations.
In its simplest form, the "Big Bang Theory" says:
(1) The Universe was hotter and denser in the past, and
(2) the temperature and density approach infinity at some finite time in the past.
These two things are OBSERVED. There is essentially no doubt about it.
The "redshift controversy" was settled decades ago. Arp is just wrong. Being wrong and suffering for it does not make one a "modern Galileo", it makes one a crackpot.
Arp and Burbidge are old men who won't change their minds, ever. (Burbidge is deceased.) But they've been shown to be wrong many times.
The fact is that Lambda Cold Dark Matter Big Bang is predictive of things that have since been confirmed in detail, for example the spectrum of spatial anisotropies in the cosmic microwave background, the distribution of polarization in the cosmic microwave background, the detailed shape of gravitational lenses, and the density of clusters of galaxies as a function of redshift. All this has happened in the last decade and is ignored by this video. This video simply recapitulates the simple anti-Big Bang arguments of 30 years ago, while ignoring the reasons why these arguments have since been discarded as incorrect, and all of the confirming evidence that shows the Big Bang is correct.
One reason why it's more likely to see quasars near a galaxy or a cluster of galaxies is gravitational lensing: the foreground galaxy amplifies the background object along our line of sight, making it brighter than it otherwise would have been.
