If it were possible to recreate the atmosphere of Earth on Mars, then there shouldn't be a problem with humans surviving. A couple of problems however:
Mars has a solid core. With a solid core, Mars is unable to generate a magnetic field that absorbs and deflects solar winds. These winds would eventually sweep away the atmosphere of Mars and we're back to square one again. Note: This is what scientists believe has already happened to Mars
Mars has a lower gravitational pull than the Earth (this is due to Mars being less massive than the Earth). So the atmosphere would actually extend out further away from the surface of the planet. This means that the pressure at the surface would be much lower than it is on Earth, which means that we would still have massive problems with trying to breathe.
