Is it dumb to assume that the universe has always existed

The human mind is programmed for causality. We need to define the cause and effect for everything we observe to properly understand it and make it fit into our mold of "reality". The simple answer is we have no clue and probably never will.

Science disproved the Steady State Universe Hypothesis Years Ago!!! We have vast amounts of evidence that PROVES the universe began in a Big Bang. How could an expanding universe always have existed?

The Universe began at Big Bang.
Before it there was nothing.

If it has always existed, it sure took humans a long time to advance to where they are today.
