Could the satellite expected to hit Earth tonight incorrectly read as seismic activity if it hits land

if there was an impact. What you seem to worry about is that the seismologist analyzing the graphs might misinterpret the signal (if there is one) as a natural event. My guess is that if there is a signal due to some impact, it will be so small that they will simply ignore it and allow the system to record it as a minor tremor with an epicentre at the surface and at the point of impact. However, someone will read the news and notice that the location does match the point of impact and they may add a comment to the file.......
I figure the mass of some of these pieces and the fact that they're falling at such a high rate of speed, some seismometers may incorrectly register minor earthquakes. Or are the pieces not heavy enough?

The seismographs would correctly register the seismic waves generated by the impact... if there was an impact. Of course it will read CORRECTLY as a seismic event IF they impact LAND. They are not supposed to impact land. WhatEVER gave you the idea that meteoroids impacting the surface DO NOT generate seismic waves?

ACCORDING TO NASA and MS-NBC, it's probably going to impact IN THE SOUTH PACIFIV OCEAN. YES. that information 7.5 hours old. DO YOU HAVE A BETTER, MORE ACCUARATE SOURCE THAN NASA?

Keep Your OPINIONS to YOURSELF. I PASSED 4th and 5th semester calculus. HAVE YOU? I can PROVE, ONLINE. That I have a master's IN GEOLOGY.

HOW the hell did the USA KNOW that the USSR was setting off atomic bombs UNDERGROUND?
BECAUSE of seismic data.

"....
In 1963, all nuclear and many non-nuclear states signed the Limited Test Ban Treaty, pledging to refrain from testing nuclear weapons in the atmosphere, underwater, or in outer space. The treaty permitted underground nuclear testing. France continued atmospheric testing until 1974, China continued up until 1980.
