With the technology we have today, the most viable would be a Project Orion Nuclear Pulse Propulsion Space Ship. There was a Microfusion update to the ship based on projected technology called Project Daedalus. A more feasible up date was made later called the Medusa Space Ship.
Orion used a large pusher plate attached by shock absorbers to cushion the nuclear blasts to comfortable levels. Plastic discs were packed with the nuclear bombs as there is no air in space to generate the plasma shock wave.
Daedalus blew up very small fusion pellets in a large bell shaped structure.
Medusa set off the bomb in a solar sail using the gamma ray photons themselves for propulsion instead of propellant. The long tether would unwind generating power which would be stored and used to winch the tether back in thereby cushioning the blow much more than the Orion shock absorbers. Many people say that Medusa overlooked dragging the spaceship through the fireball but in space there is no fireball, a nuclear explosion is mostly gamma rays and x-rays in space so there's no radioactive fallout except for the vaporized casing of the bomb itself.
Another possible spaceship is the asteroid spaceship where an iron nickel asteroid is selected and a cavity drilled in the center and filled with water then sealed. The asteroid is set spinning and put onto an elliptic orbit that brings it close to the Sun, the Sun melts the outer layers of the asteroid into molten metal and the water expands 1,000 times into steam blowing the asteroid up like a glass bottle. As the asteroid passes back out to a distance, a nuclear reactor and ion rockets are strapped on to maneuver it and the cavity is sealed and turned into a large earthlike habitat. The asteroid itself can be mined for nuclear fuel and other resources. I suspect this idea would just pop the cork on the water and the steam would just fizz out, plus it's really hard to drill deep and make a cavity for the water. Mirrors may be used to concentrate the solar power and may allow greater control. A liquid fluoride thorium reactor would be ideal as the power source since thorium is more common and easily found.
