......
(2^x)+4(2^-x)=5

-
2^(x) + 4*(2^-x) = 5

4^(x) + 4 = 5*2^(x)

2^(2x) - 5*2^(x) + 4 = 0

(2^x - 4)(2^x - 1) = 0

2^x = 4 => x = 2

2^x = 1 => x = 0

-
1. write out problem: (2^x)+4(2^-x)=5

2. distribute 2x+8-4x=5

3. Combine like terms -2x+8=5

4. square dance ( put the x's to one side) : -2x=-3

5. Get it to say "x=" soooo divide: x=-3/-2

6. reduce : x=3/2

Done =)

-
2^x + 8^-x=5
