and you will never knew when, so live life to the full regardless. The suns plans as when it intends to explode are irrelevant.-Our sun is far too small to turn into a supernova. Only very large stars do that. However,......

If it helps you to have more confidence in our calculations, think how few supernova explosions there have been in our galaxy. There are literally hundreds of billions of stars in the galaxy, but it is hundreds of years since we have seen one blow up. That makes it clear that supernovae are very unusual events, on the scale of a human lifetime.

-
The sun will not explode and we know it because it is burning at a measurable rate and its fuel is both a measurable quantity and observable types.

If you put a log on a fire you can work out its burn time if you know what wood it is and what size. (Without getting into semantics like saturation of the wood and oxygen supply).

-
Equally, how can you know it WILL explode? You can't apply your argument to one side of the debate without applying it to the other as well. Whether it explodes or not, you personally will die one day, and you will never knew when, so live life to the full regardless. The sun's plans as when it intends to explode are irrelevant.

Our sun is far too small to turn into a supernova. Only very large stars do that. However, in millions of years it will expand, explode and then shrink. This won't happen while you're alive though so don't worry. We know it won't happen soon as there is still a lot of hydrogen left in the Sun to keep it stable.

-
Tom's right, but the expansion will happen in billions of years not millions. How do we know? We've looked at a lot of stars and developed a pretty good understanding of how they work and what their lifespans are.

-
We know because our sun is FAR to small to be a supernova. It is also too young to go out any time soon, and it will not explode.

-
Well I dont know what scientist said that i cant because it can. Any star can and eventually will but our sun is young, it still have a couple billion years of life left.

-
The sun will eventually blow up in about 4 billion years i think they said>?

-
Don't worry...even if it does you won't even know about it.

-
Is there not a god?
