Go to a grocery store and compare prices and qualities of several brands of toilet paper, including generic brands, and the prices of pre-moistened flushable towlettes, which are the newer technology version of toilet paper. Newer technology COSTS MORE. BTW, there's a reason why you should flush only 2 to three towlettes at a time.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "If it aint broke, don't fix it."? Toilet paper doesnt need an improvement. Sure there could be some toilet out there that creates an airtight seal around one's anus and sprays high pressure cool water into it for a minute and then dries it with a gentle stream of hot air so that you never have to wipe, but is this as fast, cheap, and environmentally conservative as using toliet paper? Probably not.

Toilet paper is a comparatively recent invention. People used to use leaves and rags (if they used anything at all).
And there are newer technologies - bidets and even a special attachment that goes onto the seat which sends out a gently spray that cleans your backside.

Not EVERYTHING should advance. Toilet paper needs to be soft and wipe **** off you, and it's sort of accomplished that already.
