Question about the moon.?
When the first man landed on the moon why didn't he just take a selfie to prove he was there?
-------------------------------------------------------

answers:
nineteenthly say: He kind of did.
-
MARK say: The ridiculous craze and narcissism of taking a photograph of yourself had not started at that time. The astronauts did, however, take photographs of each other.

If you do not believe all the other evidence a selfie would make no difference. If you do not accept evidence you do not accept it. Clearly you have not given much thought to the many great difficulties of faking Moon landings.
-
Ronald 7 say: The cameras they used were chest mounted on their Spacesuits
They took photos of each other, the LEM and also set a camera up to watch them and the LEM taking off again
It flattened the flag I remember
Richard Nixon made the longest distance for a phone call in History to congratulate them
Neil also filmed Buzz doing a strange loping Bunny type hop showing the best way to manoeuvre over the surface
-
hoarseman say: I suspect that had the Apollo 13 accident happened today , whilst one astronaut fought to save them , the other two would have simply sat there filming him for YouTube.
-
Manuel say: A little bit more research would help.
-
Metal say: here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMINSD7M...
-
Clive say: Why would you take a selfie when there's another astronaut to take photos? And there was.
-
Jeffrey K say: He did. I've seen pictures and video of him climbing down the ladder and onto the moon.
-
quantumclaustrophobe say: It sorta happened...
When Neil was coming down the ladder for the first time, he pulled a lever that allowed a video camera to swing into place, which recorded him at the base of the ladder.
-
Zirp say: Selfies weren't invented yet, nor were cameras that could do it
-
Erica s say: I doubt he considered he needed "proof" or that future idiots would continue to deny the truth.
-
Scott say: Because it was filmed and broadcast in real time.
-
Bill G say: Because there was no such thing as a cellphone in 1969, that's why.
-
vic say: the moon landings happened... on a movie studio lot
-
Atheist Dude say: No smartphones had to be careful what they brought with them.
-
Robert say: No need to. There were other people there to take the photos.
-
poldi2 say: Cellphone cameras didn't exist. So they used a camera mounted in a cabinet in one of the lander's legs.
-
Bill-M say: They did not have selfie cameras. They hand Hand held cameras they used to take pictures of each other. They had cameras mounted on the LEM.
-
Nyx say: The spacesuits worn on the Moon did not have the flexibility of arm movement to do "selfies".

Plus there were two people per lunar landing. So you can get pictures of each, taken by the other.

You can look at all the photos, movies, and videos taken here -

-
RAH RAH say: More to the point why wont NASA release all the pictures taken on the Moons surface. Is there something they don't want you to see.
-
jonniebaby say: Cameras
-
CarolOklaNola say: TWO men landed on the Moon. Neil Armstrong DID make selfie video. There were NO DIGITAL cameras in 1969.
-
Peter T say: He did

-
KaleyK say: He was too busy tasting the cheese that the moon is made of.

A modern smart phone has far more computing power than the Apollo Guidance Computer used in 1969 to land men on the moon.
