Could nasa make a bowling ally in space to make more money? People could pay to go up there and bowl for a few hours or something and have astronaut food then be brought back to earth when theyre done.

Why has no one thought of this??

answers:
Spaceman say: Consider what makes bowling possible on Earth. It is, of couse, Earth's gravity
that keeps the ball in contact with the bowling alley's surface. This means that there
must be some way to simulate gravity in space, Fortunately, there are two possible
ways to do in with present day technology. Method A: generate rotational gravity by
spinning a spacecraft aound its longitudinal axis. However, it would have to be a large
spacecraft (say, 200 meters in diameter), both to minimize the Coreolis effects and
to provide room for the bowling alley. Method B: use a constant-boost spaceship that
that accelerates continuosly during the fist half of a journey, flips over, and decelerates
during the jouney's second half.

someg say: Yeah. It's been tried, but when you get a strike, the pins go everywhere, and you can't get them back. You have to fly down to Earth to get new ones, and that is inconvenient.
-
Jeffrey K say: Bowling would cost 20 million dollars per game, plus shoe rental.
-
Ronald 7 say: I don't know either
Gravity could be induced due to spinning
-
tham153 say: in zero g balls will not stay in lanes
-
PhotonX say: Yeah, I guess that must have seemed funnier when you wrote it.

There will definitely be some new sports invented in space, though. New sports in partial-gravity environments, too, like on Moon and Mars. Science fiction has touched on the topic a number of times. Why don't you spend some time thinking on that?

ngc7331 say: cost prohibitive. nice idea, you should run with it.
-
say: a company called space x is already developing a way for people to tour space on a holiday, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch from there current plans.
-
Pearl L say: i dont think so, but if you want to try and set it up nnaybe you should be the one doing it
