Do the sun and stars move clockwise or counter-clockwise in the poles horizontally?......

Do the sun and stars move clockwise or counter-clockwise in the poles horizontally?

-------------------------------------------------------

answers:
Clive say: Neither. It's the Earth that moves.
-
Ronald 7 say: Clockwise at the North Pole
Anti Clockwise at the South Pole
-
CarolOklaNola say: The STARS move horizontally clockwise at the north geographic pole and counter clockwise at the south geographic pole. The Sun DOES rise an set around the equinoxes at both poles around the solstices the Sun dies set or it does not rise.
-
quantumclaustrophobe say: If you're standing on the North Pole, you'd see the stars move clockwise.
If you're standing on the South Pole, you'd see the stars move counterclockwise.
-
Tom S say: Directions, especially in space, is relative to the vantage point of the observer.
-
Michael E say: As others have noted, the clockwise/counter-clockwise rotation depends on where one is.
This is used in the definition of North. The North pole of an object (planet, sun, galaxy) is the place where the object appears to rotate clockwise.
-
oldprof say: Understand what we see as stellar and solar motion is really due to the Earth's rotation. So because the Earth rotates from west toward east, the Sun during the day and the stars during the night appear to travel from east to west. For example, the Sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

So here's the tricky part.

If we observe that east to west travel from above the north pole, that's a CW motion around the pole. But if we see that same motion from above the south pole, that's a CCW motion.

As you will learn in physics, all motion is relative. So in your case, the answer is relative to which pole you are talking about.
-
JD say: If you're asking about relative motion, the sun and stars will "move" from east to west due to the Earth's rotation.

That means, if you face north, they will move counter clockwise. If you face south, they will move clockwise. If you face east, they will move overhead from front to back. Facing west, they move overhead back to front.
-
Acetek say: the sun and stars do not move
the Earth spins under them
but they appear to move east to west which would be clockwise
-
Vulcan say: we move
