How many journeys around the sun has planet earth enjoyed since coming into being?

-------------------------------------------------------

answers:
Old Man Dirt say: Which one!
I suspect the current sun is not the original sun. I suspect it is about the third star the earth has orbited.
-
busterwasmycat say: About 5 billion or so. It was faster in the past, so 4.5 billion years (at today's unit of time) is more than a physical "year" of the earth in the past (the earth would go further than one orbit in that time period). Too much work to do a search for physical year (orbital period) lengths over time and do an integral. But I don't know which particular rotation would suit to serve as the first one under the "coming into being" idea, so even if I could do a perfect mathematical model of the orbital period decay rate, I can't give you a precise number of fixed time units that need to be employed simply because the "earth" did not come into existence instantaneously.
-
Paula say: Well it is about 4,500,000,000 times.
But bear in mind that the "year" is not a fixed length of time.
Earth's year is getting longer as earth moves away from the sun.

When the earth was formed it was much closer to the sun - and its year was shorter. So there would have been more than 4.5 billion years.
-
Jeffrey K say: 4,500,000,000 orbits
I don't know if earth enjoyed them all.
-
Eric say: Zero. The sun revolves around the Earth.
-
Ronald 7 say: 4.5 Billion Times or more
Except for the times it went backwards
Ha Ha, only joking !!
-
Iridflare say: "How many journeys around the sun has planet earth enjoyed since coming into being?"

Most of them! The Late Heavy Bombardment wasn't much fun, but apart from that....
-
Bill-M say: 4.6 Billion
-
Clive say: Lots and lots.
-
Starrysky say: "coming into being" has to be defined first:
The earliest little lump of dust
The first large rock among smaller rocks
The primitive dwarf planet, which was flying around the sun at a different distance and duration of orbit very long ago.
The combined dwarf planet with another of almost the same size after a collision, also forming the moon.
Gravitational influence of Jupiter moving around other planets like the infant Earth, finally pulling it into its present location and orbital period.
So you see, it is not a straightforward "one year per trip around the sun" calculation. With no definite start of "being" and no firm idea how things were arranged in the earliest times, no accurate guess can be made on the number of journeys around the sun.
And I don't think there has been any enjoyment in any of those trips. It is called "pathetic fallacy" to give human emotions to inanimate objects.
-
Who say: if it takes 1 year for the earth to go around the sun once and the earth has existed for 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years what do you think?

cos my maths aint good enough
-
CarolOklaNola say: Approximate 4,600,000,000 times. The oldest ricks on Earth are 4, 400,000,000
years old according to a 2014 Live science article.

The Bishop Usher chronology from the Bible is almost 400 years old and has zero credibility.
-
Grundoon say: 64.

I've counted
-
marty say: A little more than 4.5 billion times
-
Bill say: One a year times the number of years the earth existed. You do the math.
-
Acetek say: 4.5 billion. The Earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old so it has made 4.5 billion/+/- trips around the sun
