What's the difference between evolution and ID

If you don't know what ID stands for when referring to Biology, it means intelligent design.
I have to rewrite an essay where I compare and contrast evolution and intelligent design. And I really need help because I was absent the day we went over it and my teacher is mean :/
So can anyone just tell me some KEY points on evolution and intelligent design? Please, thank you.

the main thing you need to know is evolution is a scientific near-certainty, while ID is pure myth.

Evolution proposes that after the first very simple life forms arose on this planet, these life forms would be forced to compete for limited resources, and those that survived the competition to produce the most offspring would become more common in populations while those that performed poorly would die off. As populations branch off from one another and migrate to new environments, they begin to diverge in terms of the traits which are beneficial in their differing environments, and eventually they become so dissimilar that they form a new species.

Intelligent design suggests that everything poofed into existence magically when some designer (not to be mistaken with God, since that would be religious and clearly not science) wished them into existence.

More accurately, intelligent design advocates believe that the apparent complexity and diversity of life that is seen in the world today suggests some sort of grand creator. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmaker_…

there is proof for evolution like fossil records of organisms before us. there is hardly any proof of ID except of course the stories written in the holy books.

in your essay you can talk about all the evidence that proves evolution like about the fossil record and such and look up hydro thermal vents, i wont tell you everything about them, but "primitive" life is very prevalent around them. you can talk about platypus and how it is a very strange organism which may one day be the link to another organism. you can talk about bacterial resistance to antibiotics which also proves evolution. you can talk about the environment and how its always changing and natural selection. you can talk about human anatomy such as humans having a tail bone but no tail and also homologous and analogous features

if you want to prove ID then...i can't really help you here.

but if you want to earn marks then i think it will be better for you to stick to whichever side your teacher sticks to instead of what you really want to talk about, because as you mentioned he/she is mean and that suggests stubbornness to me...for some reason
