there will eventually be meds that will PREVENT hiv, but it's impossible to CURE hiv, once you're hiv positive the virus's genes become part of YOUR genes, so unless you destroy your own cells, you won't be able to eliminate it from your body.

Actually scientists were trying to cure leukemia in a man who also had AIDS but the treatment meant for the leukemia affected a receiver on his helper T cells rendering HIV viruses helpless. It's in testing right now, but that's just what my biology teacher told me so let's hope it came from a reliable source. =D
