How are meiosis and mitosis different?? How are they the same

4 daughter cells will be produced with half of the chromosomal number of parent cell (n/haploid). Finally, mitosis occurs once (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase) while meiosis occurs twice ( prophase 1,......
Plz make it easy to understand! Every website uses big words and everything and quite frankily I am too dumb for that :)

Both mitosis and meiosis are nuclear division. However, meiosis ONLY involved in reproduction cell/gametes while mitosis involves in somatic cells (every cells except the reproductive cells). Mitosis will produce 2 daughter cells with SAME chromosomal number (2n/diploid) as the parent cell while in meiosis, 4 daughter cells will be produced with half of the chromosomal number of parent cell (n/haploid). Finally, mitosis occurs once (prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase) while meiosis occurs twice ( prophase 1, metaphase 1, anaphase 1, telophase 1, prophase 2, metaphase 2, anaphase 2, telophase 2). Hope that explains everything. :D

Mitosis: (asexually) a cell splits into two identical cells.
Meiosis: (sexually) a cell division whereby one cell divides into four new cells(gametes)

Unlike mitosis, gametes produced during meiosis contain half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell.
During mitosis, each new cell receives the exact number of chromosomes as the cell from which it originated.

Mitosis is CELL division and meiosis has nothing to do with the divios of cells, id tell you exactly what meiosis is but I forget lol XD
