you light a candle and put it in a jar with a plant. a few seconds after you place a lid on the jar, the candle goes out and you cannot light it again. after you wait for a full week, you try to light the candle (without letting in any outside air) and you are able to light it. explain these events based upon photosynthesis

t burn something you need oxygen. plants undergo photosynthesis, and produce oxygen, true. but plant cannot produce oxygen without sunlight. even though it does produce oxygen somehow ( if the jar was transparent ,and was under sun) the rate that the plant produce oxygen is not going to be enough for the candle. candle need a lot of oxygen so quickly, but plants cant be that fast, so the candle go out.

It could stay lit if it is a small candle compared to the plant, and the plant is real big compared to the candle. Even if it gives produces oxygen irregularly then there could be enough oxygen generated by the plant in the daytime to last through the night, IF the plant is big enough. I am thinking a tree would be big enough for sure, except in winter when the leaves are all off it! Maybe it would have to be a big christmas tree, not only green in the summertime, but in the snowy wintertime.
