What is the anatomical postion of the knee to the ankle or the " the knee is ---- to the ankle

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-07-09] [Hit: ]
Thats why the knee is proximal to the ankle. And the ankle is distal to the knee.-proximal to the ankle.Anything further from the mid saggital plane is distal,......
Master Chief, above, is correct in his single word answer "proximal".
But he shoulda stopped there!

The ankle is NOT "further from the mid-sagittal plane" than the knee, as he implied!!
Mine, at least are about the same distance from that mid line.
Anyhow, "further from the mid-sagittal plane" is called "lateral" (closer is "medial").

Proximal means closer to the origin.
The knee is closer to the trunk (the origin of the lower limb) than the ankle is.
That's why the knee is proximal to the ankle.
And the ankle is distal to the knee.

-
proximal to the ankle.

Anything further from the mid saggital plane is distal, closer is proximal
