Benzene C6H6 . It is a known carcinogen. It is harmful by being linked to Leukemia and Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It is very commonly used in paints, gasoline, adhesives, rubber, dyes, and is very common because it is a component of crude oil, meaning oil refineries release a lot of it into the atmosphere.

It smells sweet, and often people will inhale it through their nose to smell the sweetness. This is a very bad idea because it could well contribute to them passing out / eventually getting cancer.
