First, we all know the important of purity while performing experiments. As chemist, these are some factors to consider so that we may obtain result with high level of purity and accuracy.
1. A chemist should consider the cleanliness of his apparatus. E.g, the flasks, pipets, burets, beakers, etc should be washed with sulphuric acid and then plenty of distilled water before analysis. Care should be taken when usin things like a droppin or indicator pippet least U introduce a contaminant from other reagents.
2. The chemist should ensure that his table or bench is kept clean at all times, any spilled chemical should be cleaned and the surface cleaned wit a stabilizer or water to prevent contamination.
3. A good factor affecting the purity of products is the mechanism of the synthesis followed. Generally, synthesising compounds using a very long range of mechanism may create room for more contaminations as many different apparatus are needed and also experimental conditions are plenty.
4. Another factor to consider is the general methods used, would it require the introduction of stabilizers? If so how would u prevent such stabilizers from affectio ur product?. Does it has to be catalysed? Do U have to carry out extractions, how would U minimise the level of external conditions like light, heat, etc from influencin ur product's purity? All there are factors to consider while ensuring a good purity yield.
