X/2 * x = what value does this equal

My brain is being stupid at the moment... what is the result when you multiply:

x/2 * x

It's not x is it?
x/2 * x
2x/2
x
?

No! " * " sign means to multiply! So, x/2 * x
= (x*x)/2
= (x^2)/2
= x²/2.

x/2 * x = 1/2 * x * x = x^2/2
