Hydrocodone is a synthetic opioid. It was first synthesized by German Chemist Karl Mannich in 1920 and he marketed it in Canada and america under the brand name Hycaden. Hydrocodone is produced from the naturally occurring chemicals Thebaine and codiene which are naturally propuced by the opium Poppy flower (papaver somniferum)
