Have 5.0 L sample of ideal gas. If decreasing pressure from 1.0 atm to 0.5 atm,

0L) = (P2)(0.P2 = (1.0 atm)(5,0L)/.So essentially,1(5) = 0.......
How will the volume be affected?

Please help with Chem question. Please show formula and how I figure this out. Thank you.

-
P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T1
I'm assuming that the temperature is constant so the new equation is rewritten as:
P1V1 = P2V2
Substitute the variables with the values:
(1.o atm)(5.0L) = (P2)(0.5 atm)
Solve for P2
P2 = (1.0 atm)(5,0L)/.5 atm)
P2 = 10
So essentially, if the pressure is doubled then the volume will double

P1V1 = P2V2

1(5) = 0.5(x)

x=10L
