Chemistry --> NaOBr or NaBrO

Which one is it and does it matter? If so why?

The reason is the bonds.

The molecule is Na+ BrO- so thje sodium is attached to the oxygen not the bromine.Hence it is writtren NaOBr to show the bonding.
Just as you write NaOH showing the Na is attached to the O not the H
