A Chemistry professor, or a Physicist seems to be what most think of as a scientist, and tend to think biologists, or anthropologists are "less science oriented"

Why? Is it cultural?

Repost this question in the 'philosophy' section. You'll get more refined answers there.

As for the question, some sciences are more 'sciency' because they require FAR MORE critical thinking and studying to understand them, and science means to have knowledge. Hence, the more you have to learn, the more you will learn, and the more 'sciency' it will appear, and hence, its constituent scientists will appear more 'sciency'. As a result, it isn't propaganda or a cultural formation, but rather a universal truth, since some sciences will require more learning, more time, and will make those studying appear 'smarter' or 'more sciency' because they put so much more effort into their respective sciences.

Is not cultural or propaganda. Phsysics it is the "purest" science as it uses mathematics as its language, it describe phenomena that kind be expressed by mathematical equations (this doesn't mean that is perfect). On the other hand other fields of science are sometimes more open for subjective interpretation. For example in ecology you describe and group things but usually the definitions on how you do it are not as a simple. I hope you get my point.
