The volume goes from 5 L to 2.5 L. What do you have to do to make the volume smaller, increase the pressure? Right. So the original pressure has to be increased by multiplying by a ratio of volumes that makes 1.......
the air in a 5 L tank has a pressure of 1.2 atm. what is the new pressure of the gas in a 2500mL tank if there is no change in temperature? work problem out please.

Think this one out. The volume goes from 5 L to 2.5 L. What do you have to do to make the volume smaller, increase the pressure? Right. So the original pressure has to be increased by multiplying by a ratio of volumes that makes 1.2 larger. Which is it, 5/2.5 or 2.5/5. It is obvious 2.5/5 won't work so:

? atm = 1.2 atm x (5L/2,5L) = (using you calculator ? ) = 2.4 atm. Assume it is 5.0 L or else the answer is a significant 2 atm.
