Im wonder why is naphthalene a good choice as a solvent? I can't figure out why.

Naphthalene is not a good choice as a solvent unless the experiment is the depression of the melting point of naphthalene by dissolving in it a substance whose molecular weight is to be measured.

Its M.P is 80o C and it evaporates, rapidly, leaving the solute behind.
