Am almost done with my chemistry homework, but am stuck with these two problems please answer and tell me how you did it so i know for the exam thank you!!

1.) A calorimeter containing 100 g of water changes from 25.0 (Degrees) C. to 31.2 (Degrees)C, when a 28g piece of metal at 120 (Degrees)C, is added to the water. What was the specific heat of the metal?

2.) A calorimeter contains 150 g of water that starts at 25.0 (Degrees) C, and drops to 16.3 (Degrees)C, when a 45g piece of metal at -15 (Degrees)C, is added to the water. What was the specific heat of the metal?

ya saidi,
heat in J = (mass in g)(specific heat in J/gC)(temperature change in C)
q(water) = ms(T final-T initial)
q(water) = -q(pellet)
q(water)=(100)(4.183)(31.2-12.0)=2594 J
q(metal)= -2594=(28)(s)(31.2-120)
s(metal)=1.04
you know the final heat of the pellet is the same as the final heat of the water, and that the heat change in the water is the negative of heat change for the pellet. Huzan saidan 'aley imtihanik
