The Bible explains that the flood waters erupted from vast underground chambers and also fell as rain from the sky for a 40 day period....the Flood waters covering the entire earth for many months until the ocean floors sank as water in them escaped over time....the Flood waters then flowed from the land back into the lower ocean floors. The eruption of enormous amounts of water under pressure could have caused the 40 days of rain as well as snow and ice falling from higher altitudes burying the mammoths and other creatures/plants at or near the poles. A rotation of the earth and altered axis tilt is also evident from the plants and creatures found at the poles and astronomical observations as noted by the Australian astronomer George Dodwell, Cassini and other ancient scholars.
As the water pressure and volume diminshed in the chambers, the roofs of the chambers sank down/collapsed which gives us the deep valleys in the ocean floors today...some deeper than the highest mountains on earth... and the processes during the Flood also caused some continents to slide apart in a short time....rapid continental drift...and also led to mountains being formed very rapidly...driven upward as continents collided.
