Need help with gear box ratios

An input of 1000 HP at 1000 RPM would be 500 HP at 2000 RPM, right?-Power is not changed by a gearbox. torque increases as frequency decreases.I do not know what horses have to do with this. I thought you were referring to cars.......
Just to clarify, a gear box with a ratio of 2:1 increases the speed by 200% and decreases the HP by 200% or is it just the speed which is increased?

For example,
