1. A lamp (R = 155 ), an electric heater (R = 27 ), and a fan (R = 52 ) are connected in parallel across a 125 V line.
(a) What total current is supplied to the circuit?

(b) What is the voltage across the fan?

(c) What is the current in the lamp?

(d) What power is expended in the heater?

2.Sodium ions (Na+) move at 0.851 m/s through a bloodstream in the arm of a person standing near a large magnet. The magnetic field has a strength of 0.255 T and makes an angle of 57.0° with the motion of the sodium ions. The arm contains 95.0 cm3 of blood with a concentration of 2.50 1020 Na+ ions per cubic centimeter. If no other ions were present in the arm, what would be the magnetic force on the arm?

I know this is a lot, but I'd really appreciate it if anyone can help me!

Electrical: Ohms Law
current ( I ) measured in amps = electromotive force (V) measured in volts / resistance ( R ) measured in ohms.
In a parallel circuit the voltage across all items is the same; so B is 125 V
the current of C is 125/155
total current A will be sum of all three currents 125/155 + 125/27 + 125/52
power ( P ) measured in watts found as I x V
so the heater power D is 125 x 125/27
Somebody else will have to help with the question involving ions.

1. You do the math:
a. The total current is the sum of each individual currents. So, I=E/R or 125/155+125/27+125/52.
b. 125 volts, the source voltage
c. The same as in a) 125/155
d. Power in watts is I*E so 125*125/27 (ah the E (squared) divided by R comes to mind.

So, in real terms, the bulb is about a 100 Watt bulb, the heater 600 Watts, and fan about 300 watts.
