Ozone is created when the sunlight modify a atom of oxygen (O2) to ozone (O3). Right above pole, there is one day of six months and a night of six months during which the sun doesn't shine nor produce ozone. It is at the spring equinox, when the sun starts shining again, that the ozone layer is the thinest and the danger for UV radiation, greatest.
