Math question, this is tricky

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-05-17] [Hit: ]
Next there is a -y and a y so they cancel and whats left is -y^2.-Oh if there was only supposed to be three terms then its something totally different but the answer in my explanation is how the calculator would read it.......
perform the operations and simplify: 1/ x-y - 2x/x^2-y^2+1/x+y

how do i solve this-please show answer and work, thanks!

The first thing to do is simplify the fractions so the term -2x/x^2 becomes -2/x. Next combine all the terms that you can so terms with the same variable and power. There are two 1/x terms so they become 2/x and there is the -2/x that was simplified earlier so those cancel. Next there is a -y and a y so they cancel and what's left is -y^2.

1/(x-y) -2x/(x^2-y^2) + 1/(x+y)
1/(x-y) -2x/((x+y)(x-y)) +1/(x+y)
(x+y)/((x+y)(x-y)) -2x/((x+y)(x-y)) +(x-y)/((x+y)(x-y))
(x+y-2x+x-y)/((x+y)(x-y))
0/((x+y)(x-y))
