(b) Then the pair can yield odd numbers 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 as follows:

3 = 1 + 2 = 2 + 1, total = 2

5 = 2 + 3 = 3 + 2 = 1 + 4 = 4 + 1, total = 4

7 = 1 + 6 = 6 + 1 = 2 + 5 = 5 + 2 = 3 + 4 = 4 + 3, total = 6

9 = 3 + 6 = 6 + 3 = 4 + 5 = 5 + 4, total = 4

11 = 5 + 6 = 6 + 5, total = 2

for a total = 2 + 4 + 6 + 4 + 2 = 18

(c) For the grand total number of possible outcomes (24 = 6 + 18) the number of

outcomes < 5 = 4, so the odds for < 5 are 4/24 = 1/6,

and for > 9 the outcomes are also = 4 yielding the
