2. Multiply those factors both numbers have in common.If there are no common prime factors, the GCF is 1.So........
What is the GCF of 252 and 96? I'm not so bright at math.

I'm assuming you are talking about the greatest common factor, or GCF, which is the greatest factor that divides two numbers.

To find the GCF of two numbers, we need to:
1. List the prime factors of each number.
2. Multiply those factors both numbers have in common.

If there are no common prime factors, the GCF is 1.

So...

For 96, the prime factors are 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3
For 252, the prime factors are 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 7

So...

there are two 2's and one 3 in common, so 2 x 2 x 3 = 12

The GCF, then is 12

Greatest common factor. In other words, what is the largest number that divides into both numbers.

I would first factor the numbers...

252=7*3*3*2*2
96=3*2*2*2*2*2

Biggest number I see that divides into both, based on those factors, is 12. You should double check that

12

The answer is 12, no doubt about it.

-
12 i think too :)

-
I think its 12

-
what the hell does 'GCF' mean? :D
