Factor 2x^3 + 4x^2- 16x

(x - 2)(3x + 1)-factor 2x^3 + 4x^2- 16x ?too easy !......
I have the answer but when factoring I dont get that answer. whats wrong ??

2x^3 + 4x^2- 16x
=a+2 b+4 c=16
ac=2(-16)= -32
the two factors of -32 : -8 & 4 but that doesnt add up to 4.
anyways so
= 2x^3 - 8x +4x-16x
=2x^2(x-4) + (x-2)

******the correct answer is 2x(x+4) + (x-2)

please show work so I can understand

How do you factor this problem: 2x(x-3) + (x-1) (x+2) ..the answer is (x-2) ( 3x+1)

-
2x³ + 4x² - 16x

First pull the greatest common factor out front, that is 2x

2x(x² + 2x - 8)

Now factor x² + 2x - 8 = (x + 4)(x - 2) so you get

2x(x + 4)(x - 2) Note: you have the answer written wrong, shouldn't have the + between (x + 4) & (x - 2)

**************
2x(x - 3) + (x - 1)(x + 2)

Multiply everything thru

2x² - 6x + x² + 2x - x - 2

Now combine like terms

2x² + x² - 6x + 2x - x - 2

3x² - 5x - 2

Now factor that

(x - 2)(3x + 1)

-
factor 2x^3 + 4x^2- 16x ?

there is a common factor of 2x

2x(x^2 + 2x - 8) = 2x(x + 4)(x - 2)

check

too easy !
