my teachers explained.

if you multiply you move the decimal one digit to the right for every 0 your multiplying. for example

6.4 x 10 = 64 see you moved the decimal one digit to the right.
6.4 x 100 = 640 you moved the decimal over 2 places and when there's not place for the decimal to go you add a 0.

for division its to opposite.

you move the decimal over one place to the LEFT for every 0

let's use your problem

64.52 / 10 = 6.452 see the decimal moved the the left one digit.
64.52 / 100 = .6452 you moved it two places.
64.52 / 1000 = .06452 you moved to 3 places (one for every 0) and added a 0 because the decimal was going into empty space.

Look at the number you're dividing by, 100. there's two zeros in that number. So take the decimal in the number 64.52 and move it 2 decimal places to the left. Your answer would be .6452

heh. please. i did this in third, no sweat. move the decimal to the left however many zero's there are. if you can't see the decimal, it's to the far right. the answer is .6452 by the way

The answer is 0.6452. You out the decimal up as you would do with a regualr problem. Then divide 645 by 100. Put your answer up. Then just continue your problem like a regular one.
