What does the "z" symbol mean in algebra 2

"Z" ( a symbol but with a line at its end ) means Integers. Set of Integers.

there is an x coordinate y coordinate and then a z coordinate. It is used to graph planes and spheres. (x,y,z). And a variable can be any letter or symbol you want. It is limited to just x and y. you could draw a picture of a dog and consider that a variable as long as represents data.

So, z can be a variable. Typically z is used to denote the 3rd dimension. Sometimes you'll see a scripted "Z" and this is used to denote the set of integers.

maybe you mistakenly thought that z is Σ. btw, it means summation of...

z represents a complex number and Z represents set of all integers. You are studying in which class. Both z and Z will be used in class 12 and after.
