If 120 + 22N = 2(98+6N), then 10N = 76 or N = 7 3/5 years.......
In how many years will there be 2 times as many students majoring in engineering than in biology?
Engineering/start with 120 students and 22 more students get in each year.
Biology/start with 98 students and 6 more students get in each year.

-
LET THE NO OF YEARS BE X

120 + 22X = 2 ( 98 + 6X)

120 + 22X = 196 + 12X

10X = 76

X = 76 /10 = 7.6 YEARS

ANSWER = 8 YEARS

-
in N years there will be 120 +22N engineering students and 98 +6N biology students.

If 120 + 22N = 2(98+6N), then 10N = 76 or N = 7 3/5 years.
