write an equation of the line that passes through the given point and is parallel to the given line and perpendicular to the given line.

(-1.4) y=-x-4

The line is in y = mx + b form.

So the slope is m = -1

You need to be parallel so the the slope is m = -1

Now use the equation y = -x + b. Substitute in x and y to find b. ==>

4 = -(-1) +b ==> b = 3 ==>

y = -x + 3
