therefore i would know that the 36th row would have 8 flowers but i think they are looking for a different approach to this. does anyone have the answer?-44 - 2n is correct!n= 18,......
write a general term to find the number of flowers in the nth row when the first row has 42 flowers, 2nd has 40 flowers the 3rd has 38 flowers..etc..
Additional Details
and using that general term how would you find the number of rows you planted if the last row is supposed to have 8 flowers in it.
i tried 44-2n and yes it works but it will not work if i want to find 8 flowers in the last row.
i could do trial and error and put 18 as n which would make the equation 44-36 =8
therefore i would know that the 36th row would have 8 flowers but i think they are looking for a different approach to this. does anyone have the answer?

44 - 2n is correct!

To find the row with 8 flowers:

44-2n = 8

-2n = -36

n= 18, so the 18th row has 8 flowers
