you know the w=100 => l = 2 times 100 = 2*100 = 200.so all you need to do now is write down the formula for the parameter (measure of total lengths and widths.so now,so the farmer needs to buy 600 m of fence material to fence in his field.see?easy,......
a farmer wants to border his field with a fence. his field is rectangular with the width of 100 m and length of twice that of the width. how many meter of fence material does he need to buy to completely fence in his field.

i need detailed answers.tks

I am so sorry about others here who insult you. It's obvious you don't understand it well enough or you would have solved it yourself.

So, I am going to write a very detailed explanation so you will understand how to solve word problems such as this, learn the procedures and apply it to future similar problems on your own :)

- hint: with word problems, try to break it down into parts. so it says his field is a rectangle. i suggest you draw a rectangle. then, it says the width = w = 100 m. the width is shorter side of a rectangle. so now, draw that on your rectangle. the opposite sides of a rectangle are equal; so, you have 2 widths to write on your triangle and two lengths. also it tells you that the length = l = twice that of the width. you know the w=100 => l = 2 times 100 = 2*100 = 200. so all you need to do now is write down the formula for the parameter (measure of total lengths and widths.

so now, you know:
w = 100
l = 200

parameter of a rectangle:

P = 2l + 2w
P = 2 (200) + 2(100)
P = 400 + 200
P = 600

so the farmer needs to buy 600 m of fence material to fence in his field.

see? easy, ha? :)

i am sure from now on you will be able to solve problems similar to this on your own.

do your own homework.....

just keep in mind it states that the length is twice that of the width.

you are going to have 2 lengths and 2 widths, you already know one width, just find the length and you are all set

-
If the length is twice the width (100m), then we can easily deduce that the length is 200m (100 x 2 = 200). Since the fence is a rectangle, there are two sides at 100m and two at 200m. Therefore, the entire fence is 600m. (100m + 200m) x 2 = 600m.

100 x 2 =200

200 + 200 + 100 + 100 = 600

600 m of fence
